Some counties in the Bay Area offer special benefits for homeowners with disabilities. These benefits may include:

Allowing the homeowner to keep their tax base when they move due to a new home because of their disability
Allowing the homeowner to defer or postpone payment of their property taxes due to severe disability
Allowing homeowners to keep their tax base when they make improvements to their property for the purpose of making the property more accessible
